MUSCAT: Oman will launch the new Labour Law and Civil Service Law by end of March or first week of April, Minister of Labour said.

His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain said the much-awaited labour law will create a healthy work environment. “The new labour and civil service laws aim to create a healthy environment that rewards productivity and instill a culture of productive work,” the Minister said.

According to the minister the two laws aim to bring both public and private sectors closer. “A person must measure the work environment based on productivity and the work he does, and there is a plan to unify the benefits between the public and private sectors,” he informed.

“Bringing the two sectors closer also in terms of salaries, vacations and working hours, and these will be defined in the new labour and civil service laws,” he added.
