MUSCAT: The newly established Energy Development Oman (EDO) will play a central role in the country’s transition as well as economic diversification, according to Haifa Al Khaifi, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In her first statement after being appointed to lead EDO, Haida said EDO will contribute to positive sentiment towards Oman’s economy. “EDO’s establishment is part of the era of a renewed Renaissance for Oman, and contributes to the positive sentiment of international investors towards the country’s economy, as yet another example of the major reforms launched by HM Sultan Haitham bin Tarik,” said Haifa who is the first female CEO of EDO.
EDO which was established by a Royal Decree will achieve a set of government objectives through the implementation of global standards in the management of assets and resources of the state in the oil and gas sector.

“I take this opportunity to renew my pledge to serve Oman under the wise leadership of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and the renewed Renaissance,” she added.
Haifa who is one among the most influential women in the region’s energy sector held the position of Finance Director at PDO. She was also appointed, last September, as Chair of the Board of Directors of State Street Saudi Arabia for Financial Solutions.
