MUSCAT: Starting from January 17, medical examination will be made mandatory for issuing or renewing residence permit for expatriates, Oman’s Ministry of Health said in a circular.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the medical examination was temporarily suspended in March last year. “Medical examination is required before issuing or renewing a residence permit for expatriates starting from January 17,” the MOH circular said.
According to MOH, medical examination can be taken from specific health centres.

Earlier, due to COVID-19 outbreak, expats from India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Morocco, India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Indonesia, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Turkey, were exempted from medical examination while taking the resident cards for the first time.
