MUSCAT: Majlis Al Shura has recommended not to implement the new tariffs until the electricity sector is restructured.
This comes after a meeting held by the Shura Council on Monday to discuss the government’s plans to remove subsidies on electricity and water from January 1.
“The council calls for a postponement of the implementation of the new tariff until the electricity sector is restructured in accordance with the financial framework of the tenth five-year plan with regard to 2021,” the statement from Shura Council said.
