MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health expressed his happiness in receiving the first dose of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on Sunday, as the country launched the nationwide coronavirus vaccination campaign.
Al Saidi took the first jab of the vaccine at Seeb Polyclinic followed by a number of healthcare workers of Ministry of Health.
“Praise be to God, I am in good health,” Al Saidi said.

“We will use any vaccine or drug only after it is registered in the country of its origin and based on its safety,” the Minister informed.
In the first batch more than 7,500 people will receive the vaccination which also include citizens and residents. More than 15,000 Pfizer vaccines arrived in the country. “Around 28,000 doses will arrive in January,” Al Saidi added.
Several expat healthcare workers also received the doses on Sunday morning. Filipino national Froilan Cruz Diolosa was the first expat to receive, followed by 50-year-old Indian expat Poonam Sarf who works with the Ministry of Health.
