MUSCAT : Only expat employees working in the government sector has been excluded from providing free treatment for some diseases and surgeries, the Ministry of Health has clarified on Monday.

In a statement issued, MOH said there is no truth to what is being circulated on social media regarding imposing fees to citizens. “The Ministry of Health would like to warn that what is circulating on some social media platforms is untrue,  regarding the Ministry imposing fees for providing some treatment and surgical services to citizens. There was some distortion from a decision issued by the Ministry of Labour regarding expats who are on contract with the government,” the statement added.

On Sunday, Ministry of Labour issued a decision amending some provisions of the executive regulations of the Civil Service Law which replaces the list of diseases and surgeries excluded from free treatment for expats who are working as full-time employees and contract-based workers in the government sector.
