MUSCAT: The authority is inviting stakeholders, businesses and interested individuals to review the draft regulatory requirements and submit feedback on the proposed rules, including their potential impact on the local market, importers, distributors and consumers.

According to the TRA, the draft requirements were developed following technical and field studies that examined risks associated with chargers and batteries, assessed local market conditions and incorporated consultations with leading manufacturers.

The proposed regulations cover several areas, including product safety, quality standards, technical compliance, compatibility with telecommunications devices, and requirements for the sale and distribution of chargers and batteries in Oman.

The consultation will also assess how the proposed measures could affect market conditions, competition, economic activity and product availability.

The TRA said the initiative forms part of its approach to involving stakeholders in developing regulatory frameworks that balance consumer protection and product safety with market flexibility, competition and innovation.

The authority has called on all relevant entities and interested members of the public to review the draft requirements and submit their comments and suggestions through the designated public consultation channels.
