MUSCAT: Oman’s Public Prosecution has warned that it will take legal action against anyone who publishes or shares content that offends countries, their leaders or their people, or harms the Sultanate’s relations with other nations.

In a statement, the prosecution urged the public to exercise awareness, express opinions responsibly and show restraint in their words and actions, particularly on social media.

It called on people to avoid conduct that could undermine relations between Oman and other countries.

The prosecution said legal measures would apply to offences committed through publishing, reposting, sharing, incitement or any other form of conduct criminalised by law.

It cited Articles 20, 23 and 26 of the Cybercrime Law among the provisions under which action could be taken.
