MUSCAT : An International Monetary Fund mission will begin a visit to Oman on Sunday for regular consultations to review the country’s economic and financial performance, state news agency ONA reported.

The visit, hosted by the Central Bank of Oman, will run until November 8 as part of the IMF’s periodic Article IV consultations with member countries.

Discussions will cover fiscal and monetary policies, financial stability, external sector developments and structural reforms aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth, ONA said.

The mission will meet government officials and representatives of the private sector, banks and civil society to assess economic conditions and exchange views on challenges, opportunities and the outlook.

Article IV consultations are a principal mechanism through which the IMF monitors member economies. They involve an assessment of economic developments and policies, alongside discussions on prospects and risks, to support policy dialogue and economic and financial stability.

ONA said the visit reflected Oman’s commitment to economic transparency and international cooperation, in line with its Vision 2040 development strategy and government efforts to achieve broad-based, sustainable growth.
