MUSCAT : Maritime executives, academics and industry experts will gather in Oman on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen global shipping networks and maintain trade flows as the country hosts the Muscat Maritime Resilience Forum 2026.

Organised by Asyad Group in partnership with the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and the Oman Investment Authority, the forum will focus on operational and commercial challenges facing the global maritime sector.

Discussions will be led by private-sector leaders, with participants sharing practical experience and exploring measures to improve the resilience and connectivity of maritime networks.

The gathering will bring together representatives from major companies, institutions and international centres, spanning shipping, ports, logistics, technology, insurance and markets linked to global trade.

Asyad Group Chief Executive Abdulrahman bin Salim Al Hatmi said the resilience of global trade depended on maritime networks’ ability to keep markets connected and adapt to changes affecting cargo movements and supply chains.

Bringing industry leaders and experts together in Muscat would help identify shared challenges and explore solutions to improve the sector’s preparedness, he said.

Asyad would contribute its commercial and operational experience to the discussions, Al Hatmi said, adding that strengthening maritime resilience required sustained cooperation across the industry.

The forum aims to produce insights and recommendations that will contribute to the development of a Muscat Maritime Resilience Framework.

Al Hatmi said hosting the gathering reflected Oman’s use of economic diplomacy and international relationships to bring decision-makers and experts together on issues affecting the global economy.

He said the challenges facing maritime networks extended beyond individual markets and required greater coordination, knowledge-sharing and partnerships.

Oman’s location along maritime trade routes, together with its ports, infrastructure and logistics services, supported its role in connecting regional and international markets and expanding options for trade, he added.

The forum would also help establish Muscat as an international venue for commercial and professional dialogue in the maritime sector, while encouraging further cooperation among shipping and logistics leaders, Al Hatmi said.
