MUSCAT : Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information is surveying citizens on services provided by governors’ offices to identify shortcomings and help authorities set priorities for improvements.

The survey, which runs from Oct. 11 to Nov. 5, measures satisfaction across five areas: cleanliness and public health; inspections, oversight and management of public markets; public parks; governorate development efforts; and electronic services and municipal permits.

The findings will help authorities assess service quality and delivery, respond to residents’ needs and make decisions based on statistical evidence, the centre said.

Mahfoudh bin Salim Al Mashrafi, director of the centre’s Public Opinion Measurement Department, said the survey would collect and analyse citizens’ experiences using established statistical methods to identify strengths and areas requiring improvement.

He urged participants to base their responses on their actual experiences, saying public participation was essential to producing accurate findings and a clear picture of service standards.

Al Mashrafi said the centre would protect respondents’ privacy and keep their information confidential in accordance with Oman’s Statistics and Information Law, issued under Royal Decree 55/2019.

The law restricts individual data to statistical use and allows publication only in aggregate form, ensuring participants’ identities and personal information are not disclosed, he said.

The survey forms part of the centre’s efforts to provide indicators that support better public services, more efficient government performance and development across the governorates, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
