MUSCAT: The dialogue session, titled “Constructive Dialogue on Child Protection in the Digital Environment”, is part of the authority’s efforts to promote transparency and engagement with beneficiaries and involve them in shaping regulatory policies that address the needs of Omani society.
Open to all members of the public, the session will particularly welcome parents, academics, experts, telecommunications service beneficiaries and other stakeholders to exchange views, identify challenges and propose effective measures to protect children online.
Discussions will cover digital parenting, awareness and guidance, enriching local digital content for minors, and potential risks in the digital environment. The dialogue will also explore ways to help children navigate digital platforms safely and responsibly through greater awareness, digital education and appropriate parental guidance.
The TRA said protecting children online is a shared responsibility that begins with awareness and dialogue. Public participation is essential to identifying key challenges and priorities that the proposed regulatory framework should address.
The authority has invited beneficiaries and stakeholders to contribute their views and suggestions, which will help inform future strategies and support the development of regulations that reflect the needs and aspirations of Omani society.
The initiative aims to promote a safer digital environment for children while strengthening public participation in developing regulatory frameworks related to online safety.
