SEOUL : This recognition was for the Ministry’s participation with the “Patient Experience” project during the 49th World Hospital Congress, hosted this year by the Korean capital, Seoul, in appreciation of the Ministry’s efforts in improving patient experience and elevating the quality of health services in the Sultanate of Oman.

The certificate was received by Dr. Abeer Abdullah Al Maamari, Head of the Patient Experience Project Team. The awards committee had received over 750 entries from 38 countries this year, distributed across 8 categories, and judged by 62 international experts. This adds special value to this honor and reflects the result of national efforts in improving the quality of healthcare.

Dr. Abeer Al Maamari affirmed that the Patient Experience project is based on a pivotal concept, which is that the patient and their family are partners in planning, developing, and evaluating the healthcare provided, ensuring its alignment with their needs.

She added that the project has constituted a qualitative shift in the philosophy of healthcare in the Sultanate of Oman over the past years. The health system transitioned from focusing on service provision to adopting an approach that places the patient experience at the core of healthcare development, and from measuring beneficiary satisfaction to consolidating an institutional culture based on continuous improvement.

She clarified that this orientation was translated into tangible achievements, including developing patient pathways across various health institutions, enhancing communication between medical cadres, patients, and their families, and empowering the patient to be an active partner in evaluating and developing services. This is alongside consolidating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement at the level of directorates and health institutions.

She pointed out that the importance of this certificate lies in its issuance by the International Hospital Federation, within the Leadership and Management category, which is concerned with the ability of health institutions to create an institutional impact and achieve tangible results.

She reported that the Ministry’s attainment of this recognition affirms that the Omani experience in the field of patient experience is now receiving international recognition, thereby enhancing the position of the Sultanate of Oman on the international health map.

She indicated that while this certificate retains its moral value, its true value lies in its embodiment of a continuous national journey toward consolidating human-centered care, enhancing partnership with the patient, and making the patient experience a key standard for measuring and developing the quality of health services.

She affirmed that the Omani experience has proven that investing in the patient experience is not a luxury, but rather a strategic choice for building a higher-quality, more efficient, and sustainable health system. This keeps pace with the best global practices and enhances the march of continuous development in the health sector.

This achievement contributes to enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s position in international forums and embodies the Ministry of Health’s commitment to adopting the best global practices in serving the patient.
