MUSCAT : Malayalam theatre and cultural performances took centre stage at Spandanam 2026, a community celebration organised by Nanma Kasaragod at Al Falaj Grand Sphere in Ruwi.

The event brought together members of Oman’s Kasaragod community, guests and well-wishers for a programme celebrating the region’s artistic traditions and strengthening ties among its diaspora.

Filmmaker Senna Hegde attended the celebration, while Abdul Latheef Uppala, managing director of Badral Sama Group of Companies, was the guest of honour.

The programme centred on two productions: “Chuvad – Theatrical Fusion”, which combined theatrical expression and movement, and “Moksham”, a drama directed by Job Madathil. Nidheesh Pookkad handled art direction for the play, with lighting designed by Saneesh.

Both productions drew an enthusiastic response from the audience, showcasing the performers’ talents and the community’s engagement with Malayalam performing arts.

Finance convener Praveen Kumar delivered the welcome address, followed by a presidential address by Praveen Karichere. Chairman Harish Narayanan also addressed the gathering.

Manu Bandadaka delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of guests, performers, sponsors, volunteers and organisers.

Alongside the performances, Spandanam 2026 provided an opportunity for community members to reconnect and celebrate their shared cultural heritage, reflecting Nanma Kasaragod’s efforts to support artistic talent and community participation in Oman.
