MUSCAT — Italy has awarded Beatrice Franceschi the Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy in recognition of her work promoting friendship and cultural ties with Oman, the Italian embassy in Muscat said.
The honour, conferred by the Italian president, was presented by Italy’s ambassador to Oman, Pierluigi D’Elia, at a ceremony attended by representatives of Omani institutions, diplomats and cultural figures from both countries.
Franceschi has supported cultural exchanges and closer relations between the two countries through her involvement with the Omani Italian Friendship Association (TOIFA), the embassy said in a statement dated Oct. 1.
