Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oman Unified Supply Company, one of TAQA Oman’s companies, to qualify and train 160 job seekers as part of the “Esnad” programme.

Oman Unified Supply Company also signed an agreement with the National University of Science and Technology to develop and implement the training programme.

The initiative forms part of national efforts to promote sustainable employment and equip Omani job seekers with skills that meet the evolving needs of the labour market.

It also reflects cooperation between the public and private sectors in preparing qualified national cadres for the supply chain and logistics industry, a key sector supporting economic diversification in the Sultanate of Oman.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Labour by His Excellency Eng. Khalid bin Salem Al Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour, while Mazen bin Rashid Al Lamki, CEO of TAQA Oman, signed on behalf of Oman Unified Supply Company.

Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, President of the National University of Science and Technology, signed the programme implementation agreement on behalf of the university.

The three-year agreement will see successive batches of graduates from supply chain and logistics-related disciplines undergo specialised training programmes developed in cooperation with the university and aligned with industry requirements and professional best practices.

A key feature of the “Esnad” programme is its focus on matching training outcomes with actual labour market demand. Oman Unified Supply Company will provide employment opportunities to a specified percentage of participants who successfully complete the programme.

The programme will also assess industry requirements, identify available employment opportunities and determine the technical and behavioural skills needed by employers.

This will enable job seekers to gain practical experience and competencies required to take up roles efficiently, while increasing the participation of Omani talent in the supply chain and logistics sector.
