Geneva: The United Nations has announced a fresh allocation of $160 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund to support urgent humanitarian operations in some of the world’s most underfunded crises.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), $150 million will be channelled towards humanitarian responses in Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Cuba, Mali, Niger, the occupied Palestinian territories, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and Yemen.

A further $10 million will be specifically allocated to address the urgent humanitarian needs of people with disabilities.

The latest allocation brings CERF funding distributed during 2026 to $483 million, according to OCHA data.

UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said the additional funding would help humanitarian agencies reach people who risk being left without essential assistance amid severe funding shortages.

He also called for unhindered humanitarian access and urged that obstacles affecting relief operations be removed to ensure assistance reaches people in need.
