NEW YORK: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed efforts to end the war with US President Donald Trump during a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, with a potential ceasefire covering energy infrastructure among the issues raised.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Zelensky said Ukraine was prepared for an arrangement under which attacks on energy targets would stop if Russia agreed to reciprocal measures.

However, he clarified that there had been no agreement for Ukraine to unilaterally stop strikes on Russian oil refineries. Ukrainian forces have continued targeting Russian energy facilities as both sides intensify attacks on critical infrastructure.

Zelensky also reiterated that he was prepared to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in a trilateral format involving Trump, as Kyiv seeks renewed diplomatic momentum toward ending the conflict.
