MUSCAT: The procedure was carried out by Dr Ahmed Al Ghaithi, Dr Nawaf Al Muqaimi, Dr Muath Shamo and Dr Asma Al Rasbi at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, part of the University Medical City.
Madelung’s deformity affects the growth, shape and function of the wrist bones, making precise surgical planning important for achieving accurate correction.
The medical team used advanced imaging to develop a patient-specific three-dimensional model and surgical guides tailored to the individual’s anatomy. The technology helped improve the precision and safety of the procedure while reducing operating time and the potential for complications.
The patient was discharged from the hospital on the same day following the surgery.
The University Medical City said the achievement reflects its efforts to introduce and localise modern medical technologies, develop specialised services and strengthen national medical capabilities.
