MUSCAT: Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has refuted rumours about constructing skyscrapers in the country.

In a statement issued, the Ministry said no such decisions has been taken by the government. “The Ministry would like to clarify that it is currently working within the objectives of the medium-term financial balance plan related to initiatives to revitalize the real estate market on the project to allow the addition of upper floors in commercial residential buildings or what is known as vertical meters in accordance with the technical standards for urban planning and meet future needs,” the statement said.

The Ministry said details about its plans will be announced soon. “The Ministry wishes to confirm that it is the official source for news and information related to the housing sector and urban planning and through official channels,” the Ministry said.
