I definitely disagree with it and believe it is among the best and most cost-effective types of
exercise. Consistent walking is not just an enjoyable, beneficial workout but also
generates ideas and creative thoughts that can be written down.
Walking is low-impact and requires little equipment, allowing it to be done at any time
during the day at your preferred speed. You can be outside and stroll without being
concerned about the dangers associated with some more intense types of exercise.
Walking is an excellent type of exercise for individuals who are overweight, older, or
who haven’t been active for an extended period.
This enjoyable and wholesome activity can become a fun and social aspect of your daily routine.
Incorporate walking into your daily schedule with the same level of energy at a time that
suits you. When walking is integrated into your lifestyle, it increases a person’s desire to
walk every day. Individuals often discover that maintaining a diary or log of their
activities facilitates their commitment to this exercise regimen.
Certainly, walking is an action that individuals enjoy
doing at their own speed. Although the physical advantages are significant, the mental uplift gained from incorporating a walk into your daily schedule might be more instantaneous. Walking enhances
physical fitness, prevents weight increase, alleviates depression and fatigue, boosts mood and stamina, aids blood circulation, decreases disease risk, promotes heart health,
lessens joint stress, and ultimately, contributes to your happiness
In celebration of one of my preferred pastimes, here are five
reasons to put on some cozy footwear and step onto the
pavement/path/track every morning up to now.
Your Well-Being—Engaging in moderate exercise each day
is crucial for overall health, and walking serves as an
excellent form of exercise. Certainly, many individuals are
aware that physical activity is beneficial for the heart. You might be surprised to learn that walkers have a cancer mortality rate two and a half times lower than that of their inactive counterparts.
The Environment—Walking is simpler on the planet than biking. There is no need for
anyone to extract titanium or aluminum or refine steel for you to walk on the road. Just a
comfy pair of shoes is all you need (which you likely already have). The more we walk,
the purer our air, water, and planet will become.
Fresh Air – I think that a deficiency in outdoor activities leads to the development of
behavioral issues. Being in nature is certainly beneficial for both children and adults. A regular stroll enables you to observe the subtle changes in the seasons, witness the sun rising or setting, monitor the cycles of the moon, inhale clean air, discover the diverse range of flora and fauna, and simply connect with the natural environment.
Family and Community Bonds—An evening walk post-dinner is beneficial for
digestion and provides an excellent opportunity to connect with your partner or children
while becoming familiar with your neighbors.
It’s simple—what I love most about walking is how straightforward it is to blend into
daily routines. Simply put on some footwear, maintain a relaxed speed, and take in the
surroundings.
I will end with a quotation: “As you begin to walk along the path, the path becomes
visible.”
The writer Ishwar S. Deshmukh is well known for endurance feat, was the first to
complete the 54 km wellness walk in 2024 and the half marathon in 2025 held in
Salalah. He is a senior faculty member in the Physical Education Department at the
Indian School Salalah in Oman.
