MUSCAT: The municipality said storage facilities must be located in licensed commercial or industrial areas and operators must obtain the required municipal permit before starting the activity.
Storage facilities must also comply with safety and security requirements issued by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority and be equipped with suitable systems and equipment according to the nature of the materials stored.
Where necessary, chemicals must be stored in separate, properly prepared areas that meet the required safety standards.
Muscat Municipality urged residents to report unlicensed warehouses to its call centre at 1111 as part of efforts to maintain a safe and secure residential environment.
