MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has sent a message to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey expressing condolences over death of a number of people in the deadly earthquake in Izmir on Friday.
A powerful earthquake in the Aegean Sea killed at least 17 people in Turkey and two on the Greek island of Samos, while setting off a small tsunami and tearing down buildings in Turkey’s third biggest city of Izmir.
Oman’s foreign minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi also offered his condolences on Friday. “We stand in solidarity with the Turkish people suffering from the earthquake in Izmir, sincere condolences, sympathy and blessings to them all, I wish all the injured and wounded a very speedy recovery,” he said.
