Seven dead, 15 injured in Thailand high school shooting

At least seven people, including the suspected gunman, have died and around 15 others were injured after a shooting erupted at a high school in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, on Friday.

BANGKOK : The shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district during school hours, triggering panic among students and staff as emergency services and police rushed to the scene.

Initial reports from Thai media, including Thai PBS, had indicated that between 10 and 15 people were injured in the attack. Authorities later confirmed that the death toll had risen, with teachers and students among the victims.

According to reports, the attacker was a student at the school. Three teachers and three students were killed, while the suspected shooter also died. Around 15 others were injured, including at least two people reported to be in critical condition.

Students reportedly took shelter inside classrooms as the shooting unfolded before being escorted to safety by police.

Thai authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the motive and how the firearm was obtained. Officials have also pledged assistance to the victims and their families.
