MUSCAT: According to the latest data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of passengers, including arrivals, departures and transit passengers, reached 6,276,117 by the end of June 2026, down 9.3 percent from 6,921,569 passengers recorded during the same period in 2025.

NCSI data showed that the number of international flights operating through Muscat International Airport, Salalah Airport and Sohar Airport totalled 38,203 flights until the end of June 2026, a decrease of 10.7 percent compared with 42,778 flights during the corresponding period last year.

Muscat International Airport recorded an 8.3 percent decline in total international and domestic flights, with the number reaching 41,022 flights by the end of June 2026, compared with 44,743 flights in the first half of 2025.

Passenger traffic at the airport also decreased by 8.8 percent, reaching 5,688,276 passengers, compared with 6,233,954 passengers during the same period last year.

During June 2026, Indian nationals accounted for the highest passenger traffic at Muscat International Airport, with 173,156 passengers recorded on arriving and departing flights. This included 76,271 arrivals and 96,885 departures.

Omani nationals ranked second with 125,560 passengers, comprising 54,222 arrivals and 71,338 departures, while Bangladeshi nationals ranked third with 47,822 passengers, including 20,092 arrivals and 27,730 departures.

Salalah Airport recorded a 12.8 percent decline in international and domestic flights, with the total reaching 3,945 flights by the end of June 2026, compared with 4,526 flights during the same period in 2025.

Passenger numbers at the airport fell by 14.6 percent to 561,532 passengers, compared with 657,209 passengers in the first half of last year.

Sohar Airport recorded a 9.5 percent decrease in international and domestic flights, with 76 flights recorded by the end of June 2026, compared with 84 flights during the same period last year.
Passenger traffic at Sohar Airport declined by 45.8 percent, reaching 182 passengers, compared with 336 passengers in the first half of 2025.

At Duqm Airport, domestic flights decreased by 10.5 percent to 274 flights by the end of June 2026, compared with 306 flights during the same period last year.

The number of passengers travelling through Duqm Airport also declined by 13.1 percent, recording 26,127 passengers compared with 30,070 passengers in the corresponding period of 2025.
