MUSCAT: In a statement issued on Saturday, the authority said it is continuously assessing any potential environmental impacts on the marine environment through an integrated monitoring system that combines field inspections, satellite imagery analysis, and advanced technical monitoring tools.

The authority said it has also heightened its state of readiness and completed the necessary precautionary measures in line with approved national environmental emergency response plans, working closely with the competent authorities to prepare for any possible scenario.

Despite the enhanced preparedness, the Environment Authority stressed that current assessments have not identified any indicators warranting an escalation of the environmental response level. Monitoring and evaluation efforts remain ongoing, and any significant developments will be communicated through official channels as required.

The authority also urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and refrain from sharing or publishing unverified reports, emphasising that responsible information sharing is essential to strengthening public awareness and ensuring access to accurate and reliable updates.
