Oman innovator’s AI project ranks among world’s top 13

An artificial intelligence project developed by Omani innovator Aya bint Hamed Al Kindi has been selected among the world’s top 13 projects for presentation at the 67th London International Youth Science Forum.

Muscat: The project, titled “Guardian,” uses advanced artificial intelligence technologies to combat financial crimes, particularly money laundering. It analyses financial data with high accuracy, identifies suspicious transaction patterns and predicts potential risks significantly faster than traditional monitoring systems.

Oman is participating in this year’s forum under the umbrella of the Research and Innovation Authority with 10 innovative scientific projects. The entries were carefully selected from 738 projects submitted across the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Among Oman’s participating entries, Guardian was the only project to qualify for the elite list of 13 global projects chosen for special presentation at the international forum.

Aya expressed pride in representing Oman at the prestigious event, saying the project’s selection demonstrated the ability of Omani innovators to develop technological solutions with global relevance, particularly in sensitive sectors such as financial security and financial technology.

The achievement reflects the scientific excellence being demonstrated by young Omanis and their growing role in developing research-based solutions to international challenges in areas including the environment, energy and emerging technologies.

It also supports the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which places research, innovation and technological development at the centre of the Sultanate’s future economic and social progress.

The London International Youth Science Forum will be held in the British capital from July 19 to August 1, 2026, bringing together talented students and young researchers from around the world.
