NEW DELHI : Pradhan submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following weeks of widespread student demonstrations demanding accountability over the examination controversy.

The protests, which intensified in Delhi and spread to several other cities, were driven by concerns over alleged paper leaks, the credibility of competitive examinations and the future of millions of students.

Student organisations and opposition parties had repeatedly demanded Pradhan’s removal, accusing the Education Ministry of failing to protect the integrity of the examination system. The controversy also led to repeated disruptions in Parliament and increased pressure on the government to introduce stronger measures against examination malpractice.
