MUSCAT : The ruling, issued in cases brought by three consumers against the establishments, also ordered the convicted businesses and their legal representatives to bear all court costs, while referring certain related civil claims to the competent civil court.
The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the cases involved violations related to delays in providing agreed services, failure to fulfil contractual obligations, and practices that affected consumers seeking vehicle repair services.
In the first case, a consumer complained of delays in repainting a vehicle, additional damage caused to the vehicle, and the workshop’s refusal to provide an invoice.
The second case involved a vehicle engine repair that remained incomplete for nearly three years despite the consumer having paid part of the agreed service cost.
The third case concerned a seven-month delay in repairing a vehicle transmission, the replacement of the transmission without the consumer’s knowledge, and the transfer of the vehicle between multiple workshops without the owner’s consent.
