MUSCAT : The Indian rupee ended the day 34 paise weaker at 96.59 against the US dollar, extending losses as higher oil prices and increased demand for safe-haven assets weighed on investor sentiment.

The rupee had opened lower in early trading before remaining under pressure throughout the session, with analysts attributing the weakness to renewed concerns over global energy supplies.

Currency exchange rates may vary slightly between banks and exchange houses depending on market conditions and applicable service charges.
