MUSCAT – In its clarification regarding a patient with Hereditary Coproporphyria (CP), a rare genetic disorder, the hospital stated that her treatment has not been delayed due to a shortage of medication but has instead been postponed based on her current clinical condition and established treatment protocols.
The Royal Hospital said the patient had been receiving treatment at the hospital for an extended period and had previously been administered the required medication under a treatment plan agreed with the specialised medical team.
However, the hospital said the patient’s sudden departure from the Sultanate without prior notification resulted in the interruption of that treatment plan.
It added that the medication the patient is currently requesting is available at the hospital, but the timing of each dose is determined according to approved treatment protocols, based on clinical assessments and the patient’s vital signs.
“The current dose has been postponed due to her health condition, not because of a lack of medication,” the hospital said, adding that the medical team continues to closely monitor the patient’s condition while carrying out ongoing medical and psychological evaluations.
The Royal Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to providing the highest standards of healthcare for patients with rare diseases and urged the public to verify information through official sources rather than relying on incomplete accounts circulated on social media.
It also called on the public to avoid soliciting donations before obtaining a verified medical opinion.
