MUSCAT – The agreement, signed through the Ministry’s General Directorate of Labour in Dhofar Governorate, will enable citizens seeking employment to work with private sector establishments participating in seasonal activities and events across the governorate. It is aimed at strengthening employment prospects in the private sector while supporting the governorate’s peak tourism period.
The cooperation programme was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Labour by His Excellency Khalid bin Salem Al-Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour Affairs, and on behalf of Dhofar Municipality by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.
Beyond creating 1,500 part-time jobs, the programme seeks to enhance collaboration between the two entities through the exchange of expertise and field visits, training and qualifying government staff, job seekers and university students, conducting joint inspection campaigns, raising legal awareness among community members, coordinating media efforts on shared issues, and addressing challenges related to temporary licences.
The initiative targets several groups involved in the Dhofar Khareef season, including Omanis holding temporary licences issued by Dhofar Municipality, employers with government contracts and tenders linked to seasonal activities, Omani businesses participating in seasonal festivals and events, owners of tourist hotels and residential buildings seeking to recruit reception staff, and Omanis engaged in seasonal volunteer activities.
