Engineer Mohammed bin Harb Al Makhmari, Director General of Sector Projects Implementation in North Al Batinah Governorate, said the project is one of the strategic investments being implemented by Nama Water Services to enhance infrastructure readiness.
He said the project reflects the company’s vision to develop a more efficient, flexible and sustainable sewage system capable of meeting the needs of urban and economic expansion in the governorate.
He added that investment in infrastructure projects goes beyond developing operational assets, as it also contributes to improving quality of life, supporting environmental sustainability and preparing cities for future development requirements, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Engineer Mohammed Al Muqbali, the project manager, said the implementation work is progressing according to the approved schedule, with the highest standards of quality and safety being applied across all stages.
He explained that the project includes an integrated system of sewage networks, pumping stations and vacuum networks, in addition to the development and upgrading of several existing operational assets to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
The first phase includes the construction and completion of 40 kilometres of sewage networks, a 3-kilometre aerial discharge network, 3 kilometres of pumping lines, the establishment of a pumping station in Al Tarif, a lifting station in Ghayl Al Shaboul, completion of construction work at the Al Hambar 1 pumping station, and aerial discharge stations in Al Hazeera and Al Shizaw. It also includes upgrading several existing pumping stations. This phase is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
The second phase will include the completion of house connections and the linking of 3,432 residential, commercial and government units to the sewage networks connected to the expanded sewage treatment plant. This phase is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2028.
Nama Water Services said the project is part of its wider investments in infrastructure development and reflects its vision to build a more efficient and sustainable service system that anticipates future needs, strengthens city readiness and supports Oman Vision 2040’s goal of developing modern infrastructure across the Sultanate.
