MUSCAT : The ministry said it had observed an increase in promotions by advertisers and social media influencers for unlicensed tourist establishments and buildings, cautioning that such activities could expose those involved to legal accountability.
In a public advisory, the ministry encouraged travellers to confirm the licensing status of hotels, guesthouses and other tourist establishments to ensure quality services, competitive prices and the protection of their rights as guests.
The ministry also advised the public to avoid dealing with unreliable advertisements on social media platforms and to make bookings only through licensed tourism establishments.
