MUSCAT – The warning was issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre on July 16, 2026, as weather conditions are expected to affect parts of Oman, particularly desert and open areas.
According to the report, partly cloudy skies are expected along the coasts of Dhofar Governorate and the surrounding mountains, with intermittent drizzle. Most other governorates are expected to experience generally clear conditions, with chances of scattered showers that may become thundery at times, accompanied by active downdrafts over parts of the Hajar Mountains.
The authority also warned of possible dust and sandstorms in desert and open areas of Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, which may affect visibility and travel conditions.

Low clouds may develop during late night and early morning hours over parts of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates, as well as along sections of the Sea of Oman coast.
The forecast for Friday indicates similar conditions, with continued chances of thundery showers over parts of the Hajar Mountains, dust activity in Al Wusta and Dhofar, and low cloud formation in some coastal and southern areas.
