MUSCAT – The initiative was organised by the Environment Authority in cooperation with the Coast Guard Command and the Directorate General of Civil Defence and Ambulance, in partnership with Divers Planet diving centre.
During the campaign, volunteers recovered numerous discarded fishing nets entangled in coral reefs, helping reduce hazards to marine species and supporting efforts to preserve biodiversity.
The Environment Authority said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to protect Oman’s coastal ecosystems and promote community participation in safeguarding the country’s marine resources.
