MUSCAT : India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi in Muscat on Friday, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and reviewing regional developments, including maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Oman’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting reviewed the long-standing relations between the Sultanate of Oman and India and explored ways to further advance the strategic partnership between the two countries.


The ministers discussed expanding cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, energy, logistics services and modern technologies. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between companies in both countries and encouraging quality investments that support shared economic interests and emerging opportunities.

The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international developments, including issues related to maritime navigation and shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for global trade, energy supplies and supply chains.
The ministers stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation on regional developments and reaffirmed support for peaceful efforts aimed at enhancing understanding and cooperation among all parties while limiting the impact of current tensions.
The discussions also underscored the need to uphold international law and safeguard the interests of countries across the region.
The meeting was attended by senior Omani and Indian officials, including Ambassador Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, and India’s Ambassador to Oman Prashant Pise.
