MUSCAT – The ministry stated that the new phase introduces a wider range of online services aimed at providing faster transactions and a smoother user experience for ship owners, operators and maritime stakeholders.
Among the newly introduced services are the issuance of registration certificates for maritime units operating under the Omani flag through the bareboat registration system, permanent registration certificates for ships and maritime units more than 20 years old, and services for suspending, cancelling or reinstating registration certificates. Users can also access an enquiry service for ships prohibited from entering the Sultanate.
The platform also enables amendments to ship and maritime unit records, including changes to vessel dimensions, engine replacement, ownership transfers and the addition or removal of partners.
In addition, the second phase provides digital issuance of insurance and financial security certificates covering wreck removal, bunker oil pollution damage and oil pollution liability.
The upgraded platform also includes services related to no-objection certificates (NOCs), allowing users to issue, amend and renew approvals online.
Other additions include services for issuing, amending and renewing minimum safe manning certificates for seagoing and non-seagoing vessels, as well as operating permits for high-speed passenger ferries and the issuance of Continuous Synopsis Records (CSR).
