MUSCAT : The agreement aims to accelerate exploration and development activities at the copper project while ensuring systematic progress and creating added value for both partners.
The project is located within concession area 11B, managed by Minerals Development Oman, around 29 kilometres from Sohar city in North Al Batinah Governorate. Previous exploration activities at the site included drilling programmes, aerial and ground geophysical surveys, geological and geochemical studies, and satellite imagery analysis, which identified promising mineral potential.
Technical assessments indicate that the mineralisation in the project is of the volcanic massive sulphide type containing copper and gold, with potential geological extensions towards the north. Exploration findings have also identified promising mineral zones that could support the development of an economically viable mineral resource.
The next stage of the project will focus on additional drilling campaigns and advanced technical studies to improve resource estimates and complete economic feasibility assessments.
The agreement marks Solidcore Resources’ first exploration investment outside Kazakhstan since its establishment, reflecting growing international interest in Oman’s mining sector and the investment opportunities offered by the Sultanate’s geological resources and regulatory environment.
Eng. Mattar Al Badi, CEO of Minerals Development Oman, said the partnership represents a significant step in implementing the company’s strategy to develop high-value mining projects through cooperation with international firms possessing advanced technical expertise.
He added that Solidcore Resources was selected following an assessment of its operational experience, mining capabilities and financial strength, which position the company to contribute to accelerating project development in line with international standards.
Al Badi said the company aims to attract quality investments, enhance knowledge transfer, develop national capabilities and strengthen local content while supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and positioning Oman as an attractive destination for mining investment.
Vitaly Nesis, CEO of Solidcore Resources, said the project represents a strategic move to diversify the company’s investment portfolio and expand into promising markets outside Kazakhstan.
He highlighted the project’s strong geological characteristics and said Solidcore Resources would utilise its international mining expertise in partnership with MDO to develop the project according to global standards.
Solidcore Resources is among the leading global mining companies and is one of the largest gold producers in Central Asia.
