India-Oman CEPA expected to boost trade, investment, says Ambassador Prashant Pise

MUSCAT – India’s Ambassador to Oman, Prashant Pise, has expressed optimism that the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect on June 1, will further strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking during his first media interaction since assuming office as India’s Ambassador to Oman, Pise met representatives of the local and international media at the Embassy of India in Muscat, where he outlined his priorities for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing economic engagement between the two nations.

The ambassador said the business community in both India and Oman remains optimistic about the opportunities created by the landmark agreement, which is expected to improve market access, attract investment and facilitate greater commercial cooperation.

He highlighted the strong and enduring partnership between the two countries, noting that India and Oman continue to deepen cooperation across trade, investment, culture, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Pise also spoke about the contributions and initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to support Indian citizens overseas and strengthen ties with key partner countries, including Oman.

Emphasising the importance of the CEPA, he said the agreement represents a major step forward in the economic relationship between India and Oman and is expected to unlock new opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs and investors on both sides.

The ambassador reaffirmed India’s commitment to working closely with Oman to further expand cooperation and build on the strong foundation of friendship and strategic partnership shared by the two countries.
