MUSCAT : Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad paid a courtesy call on H.E. Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman on 21st October 2020.
During the meeting Ambassador highlighted that Sri Lanka and Oman are popular tourist destinations and that it would be mutually beneficial to seek cooperation in this sector through regular interactions between the inbound and outbound tour operators of both countries when the COVID-19 travel restrictions ease. He also proposed collaboration between Omani Tourism College and Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in the area of capacity building in this sector. Ambassador pointed out that a popular Sri Lankan hospitality sector company has invested in Oman in the hotel sector.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also briefed Minister Al Mahrouqi on Sri Lanka’s major tourist attractions including wellness tourism. Frequent air connectivity, short duration and attractive tour packages have made Sri Lanka as a popular destination for Omani tourists.
