MUSCAT : The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental protection and preserve the natural assets that attract a significant influx of visitors during this period, and will continue for a duration of two months.

Adnan Ahmed Ghawas, Head of the Environmental Control and Emergency Section at the Environment Authority in Dhofar Governorate and supervisor of the initiative, stated: “The initiative aims to intensify field presence at tourist and natural sites and green spaces, covering areas affected by the Khareef season. This contributes to curbing adverse practices and behaviours that may impact the environment, vegetation cover and wildlife, while simultaneously enhancing compliance with environmental regulations and requirements.”

He added that field teams are tasked with conducting monitoring and surveillance operations, delivering environmental awareness programmes, responding to reports and violations and guiding visitors on the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of natural sites and protecting vegetation cover—thereby reinforcing environmental sustainability and preserving the natural heritage that distinguishes Dhofar Governorate.
