MUSCAT – The support team departed from the authority’s headquarters in Muscat, heading to Dhofar with specialised personnel, equipment and vehicles to enhance field readiness and provide emergency services during the season, which attracts visitors from across Oman and abroad.
The force includes specialists in firefighting, land rescue, water rescue and ambulance services, along with operational equipment to improve response capabilities and deal with various emergency situations.
Major General Khalifa bin Ali Al-Siyabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative and Financial Affairs, met the participating personnel before their departure, praising their preparedness and urging them to carry out their duties with professionalism and responsibility.
The authority will activate advanced emergency points along roads leading to Dhofar to reduce response times and provide rescue and ambulance services during periods of increased tourist movement.
Additional services have been introduced this year in several locations, including Al-Ashkhara in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, Al Jazir in Al Wusta Governorate, Shahab Asaib, and the Harit area in Dhofar, as part of efforts to expand field coverage and improve operational readiness.

The authority urged visitors travelling to Dhofar to maintain their vehicles, carry first aid supplies and ensure fire extinguishers are ready for use, while adhering to speed limits and traffic safety rules.
It also called on tourism facilities, companies and property owners to comply with safety requirements, maintain fire protection systems and take preventive measures to reduce risks.
The authority said awareness campaigns will continue throughout the Khareef season through media platforms, field teams and public outreach programmes aimed at promoting safety.
Visitors were advised to avoid swimming in unauthorised locations, including springs, pools, waterfalls and beaches, due to strong waves and sea currents during the season.
The authority stressed the importance of supervising children near water bodies and slippery areas, urging everyone to follow safety instructions to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Khareef season.
