MUSCAT – The agreement was signed during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to France and sets a framework for collaboration between the two entities on launch operations, ground infrastructure, planning and regulatory requirements.
The experimental launch is currently targeted for late 2027 and would represent Latitude’s first planned mission from Etlaq Spaceport, supporting the company’s long-term expansion in the Sultanate of Oman.
Located near the equator, Etlaq Spaceport offers strategic advantages for commercial launch activities, including access to low Earth orbit and other orbital paths from a single site. The location is expected to support emerging space companies seeking reliable commercial launch infrastructure.
Etlaq CEO Azzan Kais Al Said stated that the partnership represents an important milestone for the spaceport and highlights the growing confidence of international space companies in Oman’s capabilities.
Olivier Zarrouati, Chairman of Latitude’s Strategic Committee, said the agreement reflects the shared ambition of Oman and France to advance independent space capabilities and develop future-focused cooperation.
The partnership comes as Oman continues to develop its space sector, including regulatory frameworks designed to encourage commercial space operations and attract international investment.
