MUSCAT – The ministry said the decision covers General Education Diploma graduates wishing to enrol in educational specialisations at universities and colleges of education inside and outside the Sultanate, as well as applicants to the Educational Qualification Diploma programme.
It stressed that the provisions of the decision do not apply to students currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree or an Educational Qualification Diploma. Those already enrolled will continue their studies under the regulations and procedures that were in place at the time of their admission, with no impact on their current academic status.
The ministry further added that the new admission requirements will apply only to students seeking to join educational specialisations or Educational Qualification Diploma programmes after the decision comes into force, in line with the approved admission criteria and procedures.
The ministry said the decision forms part of its ongoing efforts to develop admission policies for educational specialisations, with the aim of improving the quality of teacher preparation, enhancing the calibre of candidates entering the teaching profession, and supporting national goals to strengthen education standards and learning outcomes by attracting qualified individuals to the sector.
