MUSCAT : The position was conveyed by Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi during the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the United States, held in Bahrain.
His Excellency stressed that the success of the understanding would contribute to regional stability and enhance maritime security in one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
He also noted that, as a coastal state overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, Oman bears a special responsibility in supporting international efforts aimed at safeguarding maritime navigation in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
