MUSCAT : Many parents want their children to continue education through online classes even after schools resume on November 1.

Expressing their concern to The Arabian Stories in an online discussion, parents said they are favouring online classes instead of offline education in classrooms.

Some of the parents who participated in the discussion cited fear of children gathering in groups and the spread of the coronavirus, as some of the reasons. “My kids education is not more important than their health. So it’s a big no from our family,” said Cynthia Lourdusamy, a parent.

Another parent Renjina Jinose said: “I don’t think it’s safe to send them to school during this pandemic situation. My mind is not yet ready to accept it even if the school is willing to provide safety measures. And also the kids won’t take the situation seriously and might not act accordingly which is again dangerous.”
