MUSCAT – Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) said on Monday it will undertake a comprehensive renovation and redevelopment of Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel, one of the Sultanate’s most iconic hospitality landmarks, as part of efforts to enhance Oman’s tourism infrastructure and strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.

The hotel will continue receiving guests until June 30, 2026, before renovation works begin on July 1. The project is expected to take up to two years to complete.

OMRAN said the redevelopment will include the refurbishment of guest rooms and suites, food and beverage outlets, spa and wellness facilities, and public areas. The project will also involve upgrades to the hotel’s infrastructure, technology and operational systems to improve efficiency and service standards in line with international hospitality best practices.

Since opening in 1985, Al Bustan Palace has been regarded as one of Oman’s most recognisable hospitality assets, known for its location between the Al Hajar Mountains and the Sea of Oman, as well as its architecture inspired by Omani heritage.

The hotel has hosted heads of state, dignitaries and international visitors over the past four decades and has played a key role in the development of Oman’s tourism industry.

OMRAN said the redevelopment reflects its commitment to preserving the hotel’s legacy while positioning it to meet evolving visitor expectations and support the continued growth of the Sultanate’s tourism sector.

Al Bustan Palace is operated under the Ritz-Carlton brand and is widely regarded as one of the flagship luxury hospitality properties in Oman.
