MUSCAT – The memorandum of cooperation (MoC) aims to strengthen institutional cooperation between the two sides, contribute to the development of the national data ecosystem, and support the competitiveness of the business environment in the Sultanate of Oman.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Statistics and Information, His Excellency Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and His Highness Sayyid Dr. Adham bin Turki Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for Economic Studies and Research at the Chamber.

The signing was attended by a number of officials and specialists from both sides.

Under the memorandum, the two institutions will expand cooperation in exchanging statistical and economic data, preparing specialised studies and reports, conducting research, and organising joint training programmes and workshops to develop national expertise in statistical analysis, economic research and data management.

The agreement also supports joint initiatives aimed at improving data quality, expanding its use across public and private sectors, and building an integrated knowledge base to help forecast economic trends and assess the impact of development policies and programmes.

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani said the memorandum reflects NCSI’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with national institutions, highlighting the key role of data and statistics in supporting sustainable development and improving planning and decision-making.

He added that NCSI continues to develop an integrated national system for statistics and information based on quality, reliability and integration, noting that cooperation with the Chamber and its Centre for Economic Studies and Research will enhance the use of economic and commercial data in supporting the private sector and the national economy.

His Excellency Al Barwani said the partnership would help provide more comprehensive indicators and reliable information, supporting economic studies and analysis while improving research outputs and enabling better identification of future opportunities and challenges.

For his part, His Excellency Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the memorandum strengthens institutional integration and contributes to developing Oman’s economic knowledge system.

He noted that accurate data and statistics have become essential tools for shaping policies, directing investments and measuring the impact of development initiatives, adding that the agreement will help provide the private sector with reliable information to improve planning and decision-making.

His Excellency Al Rawas said the Chamber is focused on enhancing its research and analytical capabilities through economic studies, reports, surveys and business indicators that reflect market conditions and support decision-makers.

His Highness Sayyid Dr. Adham bin Turki Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for Economic Studies and Research at the Chamber, said the memorandum reflects the national approach towards strengthening cooperation among institutions in economic research and analysis.

He added that the agreement will support the exchange of expertise, development of analytical tools and improvement of economic indicators, contributing to the preparation of specialised studies that assist decision-makers and support future economic planning.

The memorandum represents a new phase of cooperation between NCSI, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chamber’s Centre for Economic Studies and Research, supporting efforts to build an integrated national data system and advance sustainable economic development in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
