Tunis: Al Shamsi’s impressive performance marked a strong start for the Omani delegation at the Tunis International Paralympic Grand Prix, which runs until June 21 and brings together athletes from 65 countries around the world. Her achievement not only earned Oman its first medal of the tournament but also highlighted the growing strength and competitiveness of the nation’s Paralympic athletes on the international stage.
The silver-medal finish reflects the readiness of athletes representing the Omani Paralympic Committee to compete for top honours in one of the most important events on the international Paralympic athletics calendar.
Oman is participating in the championship with a delegation of seven athletes: Mohammed bin Jamil Al-Mashaikhi, Taha bin Abdullah Al-Harasi, Mohammed bin Harith Al-Qasimi, Talib bin Abdullah Musafir Al-Balushi, Qusay bin Abdullah Al-Rawahi, Rawan bint Ahmed Al-Hasani, and Iman bint Taysir Al-Shamsi. The team is accompanied by its technical and administrative staff.

His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al Sinani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Tunisia, praised the significance of the event, describing the Tunis International Paralympic Grand Prix as a global platform that promotes sporting excellence, determination and resilience while strengthening ties among participating nations.
He noted that the growing international interest in sports for people with disabilities reflects the importance of inclusion and empowerment, highlighting Oman’s continued support for para-athletes. He added that this support plays a key role in enabling athletes to achieve international success and proudly raise the Omani flag at global sporting events.
